TROUBLESHOOTING
Browser
If the product icon does not appear on your desktop, or if an error occurs while the program is running (for e.g. media item not displaying properly in Internet Explorer), you may have to reinstall your browser. To do this, just follow the Browser Reinstallation instructions.
IE Browser Reinstallation:
If you have Win95A or Win95 OSR2, and your Internet Explorer Browser is older than version IE 4.0 Service Pack 1, you should install the IE5 version. You can upgrade your browser from your CD or DVD-ROM
If you are using an English version of Windows, to install IE5:
From your CD or DVD-ROM go to the IE5 directory (IE/0009) and run ie5setup.exe. (This will install the newer version of IE 5.0.).
If you are using a non-English version of Windows, to install IE5:
Download IE5 from the Microsoft download site (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie) in the language of your choice and install it onto your computer.
With the newer IE5.0 version, you can purchase and download books from our online Versabook eBookstore and access many special offers and features.
IE5 Browser Complications:
If you experience media problems or your product crashes when opening articles, it is mostly likely due to an earlier version of Microsoft browser IE5.0. If you have an earlier version of IE5 than IE 5.00.2314.1003, you should:
1. Uninstall your old Internet Explorer.
2. Reboot your computer.
3. Follow the instructions in the above section (IE Browser Reinstallation) for either an English or a non-English version of Windows.
If the problem continues, please contact our technical support.
Sounds
If you experience sound problems, you should download and install the most up to date audio drivers for your sound card. Most sound card manufacturers provide support for this from their websites.
Printing Complications
Versabook supports Version 97 and Version 2000 of Microsoft Word.
If you are not satisfied with printing using Microsoft Word, use IE Explorer for printing.
To print using IE Explorer:
1. From the View menu, choose Options.
2. Select the Display & Print tab.
3. Mark the Print using Internet Explorer check box.
4. Click OK.
Error Message:
If you receive the following error message:
“Versabook could not find the file...”
followed by the Versabook product closing, a file may have been erased from your hard-drive or your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive may need cleaning. To correct this, first try to clean your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM or your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. If the error message persists, uninstall and reinstall your product.
To uninstall:
1. Click the Windows Start menu.
2. Choose Settings and then click Control Panel.
3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
4. Click the appropriate product entry from the list of program titles.
5. Click Add/Remove.
6. Answer “Yes” to all prompts.
7. Reboot your computer.
When you have successfully uninstalled, place the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM in the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM tray and reinstall.
Error Message:
If you receive the following error message:
“The ordinal 6605 could not be located in the dynamic link library MFC42.DLL”
You should do the following:
1. Reboot the machine.
2. If this does not work, you will need to reinstall the product.
3. If you experience further problems with the same error message, you may have two copies of the file MFC42.dll installed on your computer.
Normally this file exists in the Windows System directory:
C:\ windows\ system32\ mfc42.dll.
The second copy of the file is unnecessary and should be renamed. It can be found in:
C:\ windows\ MFC42.DLL
and should be renamed as follows:
MFC42_.DLL
Note:
The path of the Windows system directory may be different for each operating system:
Operating System Path Name
Windows 95 C:\ windows\ system32\ mfc42.dll or C:\ win95\ system32\ mfc42.dll
Windows 98 C:\ windows\ system32\ mfc42.dll or C:\ win98\ system32\ mfc42.dll

If you do not accept or agree with them, you must return the Licensed Program unused within 30 days of receipt or, if purchased, within 30 days, as evidenced by a copy of your receipt, in which case, the purchase price will be fully refunded.
________________________________________________________________________________
License: Wiley hereby grants you, and you accept, a non-exclusive and non-transferable license, to use the Licensed Program and User Manual (s) on the following terms and conditions only:
a. The Licensed Program and User Manual(s) are for your personal use only.

If you transfer possession of any copy or modification of the Licensed Program to any third party, your license is automatically terminated. Such termination shall be in addition to and not in lieu of any equitable, civil, or other remedies available to Wiley.
Term: This License Agreement is effective until terminated. You may terminate it at any time by destroying the Licensed Program and User Manual together with all copies made (with or without authorization).
This Agreement will also terminate upon the conditions discussed elsewhere in this Agreement, or if you fail to comply with any term or condition of this Agreement. Upon such termination, you agree to destroy the Licensed Program, User Manual (s), and any copies made (with or without authorization) of either.
Wiley’s Rights: You acknowledge that all rights (including without limitation, copyrights, patents and trade secrets) in the Licensed Program (including without limitation, the structure, sequence, organization, flow, logic, source code, object code and all means and forms of operation of the Licensed Program) are the sole and exclusive property of Wiley. By accepting this Agreement, you do not become the owner of the Licensed Program, but you do have the right to use it in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement. You agree to protect the Licensed Program from unauthorized use, reproduction, or distribution. You further acknowledge that the Licensed Program contains valuable trade secrets and confidential information belonging to Wiley. You may not disclose any component of the Licensed Program, whether or not in machine readable form, except as expressly provided in this Agreement.
WARRANTY: TO THE ORIGINAL LICENSEE ONLY, WILEY WARRANTS THAT THE MEDIA ON WHICH THE LICENSED PROGRAM IS FURNISHED ARE FREE FROM DEFECTS IN THE MATERIAL AND WORKMANSHIP UNDER NORMAL USE FOR A PERIOD OF NINETY (90) DAYS FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE OR RECEIPT AS EVIDENCED BY A COPY OF YOUR RECEIPT. IF DURING THE 90 DAY PERIOD, A DEFECT IN ANY MEDIA OCCURS, YOU MAY RETURN IT. WILEY WILL REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE MEDIA WITHOUT CHARGE TO YOU. YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY IN THE EVENT OF A DEFECT IS EXPRESSLY LIMITED TO REPLACEMENT OF THE DEFECTIVE MEDIA AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE. EXCEPT AS SPECIFIED ABOVE, THE LICENSED PROGRAM AND USER MANUAL(S) ARE FURNISHED BY WILEY ON AN “AS IS” BASIS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY AS TO THE PERFORMANCE OR RESULTS YOU MAY OBTAIN BY USING THE LICENSED PROGRAM AND USER MANUAL(S). THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE RESULTS OR PERFORMANCE, AND THE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR, OR CORRECTION OF THE LICENSED PROGRAM AND USER MANUAL(S) IS ASSUMED BY YOU.
IN NO EVENT WILL WILEY OR THE AUTHOR, BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, LOST SAVINGS, OR OTHER INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE LICENSED PROGRAM OR USER MANUAL(S), EVEN IF WILEY OR AN AUTHORIZED WILEY DEALER HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
General: This Limited Warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may have others by operation of law which varies from state to state. If any of the provisions of this Agreement are invalid under any applicable statute or rule of law, they are to that extent deemed omitted.
