THE NEED TO MONITOR THE AMOUNT OF IRRIGATION
WATER IN IRRIGATED FARMING AREAS

Agriculture's demand for fresh water is 70% worldwide. Meeting
this demand is related to food security and guarantees high yields of
crops in agriculture. Irrational use of water resources can lead to wastage
of crops in certain areas or to crop failure without harvest at all. The use
of electronic devices to prevent these processes allows for constant and
accurate control of the amount of water in agriculture. Decree of the
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on approval of the Strategy of
agricultural development of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2020-2030,
Decree
№ PF-5853 of 23.10.2019 also states the need to introduce
modern innovative technologies in agriculture. We aim to test the use of
electronic devices in the process of monitoring the amount of irrigation
water in the Khorezm region of Uzbekistan. Because in Khorezm region
the arable lands are 100% irrigated and cultivated. Irrigation water
resources are not the same every year, which can increase in some years
or even in years of water shortage. Pic.1. As can be seen from the

diagram in the picture, in 2014 the amount of water allocated to the
region was very low, and in 2015 these reserves increased by 2.5 times.

Crop yields in the region may also increase or decrease depending
on the amount of water allocated. In years of high water volume, it is
necessary to prevent excessive water consumption, and in years of water
scarcity, it is necessary to use water wisely. Crop, rice, and wheat, which
do not have the same water requirements, are grown more in the region.
The introzonal location of these crops in the region indicates the
importance of monitoring water use. It would be easier to monitor the
amount of water used to irrigate irrigated crops if they were planted in
other areas with less water-demanding crops in certain areas.
The region has a system consisting of many irrigation networks and
drainage networks. Pic.2.
