Note: The INF does not modify the FXProperties registry key directly. Instead, it modifies the FX key as shown in the preceding example, and the value is then migrated to the FXProperties key in the MMDevice section.
After the device driver has been installed and started up, it creates a device interface that the system can use to play or record audio. The audio server component listens for the arrival of device interfaces. When one arrives, the audio server opens the device interface’s registry entry and looks for the FX subkey. If the subkey is present, the audio server reads the information under the key.
At the same time, the audio engine generates the endpoints, based on policy settings. It reads the device interface registry keys and propagates the data from the associated values to the appropriate property store.
