Online Registration and Payment System
Candidate Account Creation Terms
Welcome to the online registration and payment system for IELTS tests and products delivered to
you by the British Council and its group of companies and affiliates (“ORPS”).
The ORPS is made available to you by the British Council, which is incorporated by Royal Charter
in England and Wales and registered as a charity (under number 209131 in England and Wales
and number SC037733 in Scotland). The British Council’s principal office is at 10 Spring Gardens,
London, England SW1A 2BN.
We ask that you take time to read these terms carefully. These terms apply to all use of the ORPS.
These terms are structured as follows:
Part 1: General Terms
Part 2: Special Terms These are specific terms (if any) that apply in the location in which you are
normally resident. These terms take precedence over the General Terms.
By clicking on the [“I ACCEPT”] button below you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to
these terms, you are not authorised to use the Test Taker Portal.
Part 1: General Terms
1 Privacy
1.1 The British Council will process any personal details that you provide to create an ORPS
account in accordance with its
Privacy Policy
1.2 The British Council will retain the personal details for 3 years from test day registration.
1.3 The British Council may share the personal details you provide, if appropriate, with the other
IELTS Test Partners – IELTS Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 84 008 664 766), which is wholly owned by IDP
Education Ltd, and Cambridge Assessment English (part of the University of Cambridge) or our
affiliates who we work with to deliver IELTS.
I understand that I may be contacted via email by the British Council as part of the collection of
data that will be used for internal research purposes only to improve our service. We carry this out
for our legitimate purposes.
2 Portal access
2.1 The British Council hereby grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable, royalty-
free right to access and use the ORPS in accordance with these terms.
2.2 You may access and use the ORPS solely for its intended purpose of registering for IELTS tests
and receiving related services.
2.3 You agree:
to make sure that all details you provide through the ORPS are truthful and accurate;

to let us know promptly if any of the details you have provided stop being accurate;
•
to be entirely responsible for any activity that occurs under your account;
•
to keep secret your login details (including your password) - you must change your
password if you believe it is no longer secret; and
•
to tell us as soon as you can if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your
account.

2.4 In order to access and use the ORPS, you must be connected to the internet. Your internet
connection is your responsibility.
3 IELTS tests and related services
3.1 The IELTS tests and related services made available through the ORPS are provided to
candidates on the British Council’s Terms and Conditions of Sale for British Council Online
Sales (the “IELTS Terms and Conditions”).
3.2 If you want to register for an IELTS test, or access any related service made available through
the ORPS, then you will need to agree to the IELTS Terms and Conditions before completing your
registration or order.
4 Restrictions
4.1 If you breach these terms, the British Council shall be entitled to:
(a) refuse you any further use of and/or access to the ORPS; and/or
(b) delete your ORPS account.
5 Governing law
5.1 These terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their
subject matter or formation (including, without limitation, non-contractual disputes or claims)
shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
5.2 The English courts shall have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any claim arising from, or related
to, these terms and/or the ORPS. This means that all claims relating to these terms and/or the
ORPS can be settled by a judge (or a number of judges) in an English court. However, the British
Council retains the right to bring proceedings against you for breach of these terms in your
country of residence or any other relevant country.
