Die Universität Konstanz ist eine der neun Exzellenz-Universitäten der Bundesrepublik Deutschland.
Der Exzellenzcluster 16 "Kulturelle Grundlagen von Integration" ist ein Verbund für kulturwissenschaftliche Forschung an der Universität Konstanz, der im Rahmen der Exzellenzinitiative des Bundes und der Länder vorerst bis Oktober 2011 von der DFG gefördert wird. Mit dem Cluster wird versucht, ein zukunftsweisendes Modell geistes- und sozialwissenschaftlicher Forschung zu entwerfen. Es sollen Milieus intensiver gemeinsamer Arbeit entstehen, ohne dass die Eigenarten individualisierten Forschens aus dem Blick geraten. Aus empirischer Forschung zu Phänomenen gesellschaftlicher Integration und Desintegration heraus, die epochenübergreifend ansetzt und alle sozialen Ebenen in den Blick nimmt, soll der Kulturbegriff wieder an Prägnanz gewinnen und in eine neue Theoriebildung eingehen können.
Im Cluster EXC 16 ist im Rahmen der Forschungsgruppe „Idiome der Gesellschaftsanalyse“ ab dem 01.05.2009 eine Stelle als:

befristet auf 2 Jahre mit einer Verlängerungsmöglichkeit um ein weiteres Jahr zu besetzen. Die Stelle ist grundsätzlich teilbar.
Die interdisziplinäre Forschungsgruppe befasst sich mit den historischen, sozialen und kulturellen Prozessen, die die Rahmenbedingungen für Gesellschaftsanalysen abgeben. Sie untersucht zudem, wie Gesellschaftsanalysen die Deutungsmuster reproduzieren und modifizieren, mittels derer sich Gesellschaftsmitglieder Gesellschaft vorstellen und in ihr orientieren. Die Forschungsgruppe ist in der Fachgruppe Soziologie angesiedelt, arbeitet jedoch auf interdisziplinärer Basis. The Center of Excellence „Cultural Foundations of Integration“ at Universität Konstanz promotes research in the social sciences and the humanities as they provide perspectives on the study of culture. It is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft in the framework of the Excellence Initiative of the Federal and the State Governments, with its first phase running through to October 2011. The Center is an attempt to establish a guiding model for research in the social sciences and the humanities. It promotes milieus of intensive collaboration without restraining investigators’ individual research styles and interests. The strategic aim is to give distinctiveness to the notion of culture and to revaluate it as a basic component of theory on the basis of empirical research on social and cultural integration and disintegration, overarching historical epochs as well as different levels of social and cultural activity.

for 2 years with an option for another year in the framework of the research group “Idioms of Social Analysis,” starting date May 1st, 2009 or later. This position can be divided into two half-time positions.
The interdisciplinary research group „Idioms of Social Analysis“ is dedicated to the investigation of the historical, social, and cultural processes that form the frame conditions for analyses of the social. It is also concerned with how such analyses contribute to the imagination of, and help orient within, societies. The research group is affiliated with the sociological branch of the Department of History and Sociology, yet operates on an interdisciplinary basis. Applications from research areas such as literary studies, sociology, philosophy, political science, history and neighboring disciplines are strongly encouraged.
