Freelance translator (French to UK/US English) and proofreader Proofreading clients include Canon and Hertz. I am also able to adapt US English texts to UK English. I have previously provided this service for Autodesk, Hertz, Nike, Nokia and Starbucks.
I have an ongoing arrangement to provide an in-house proofreading service for direct marketing agency Tullo Marshall Warren covering holiday leave, where I work on major client accounts including Nissan, Guinness, Sainsbury’s, T-Mobile, the Financial Times, eBay and PayPal. I have also recently accepted a number of one-day bookings with Merrill Brink International’s translation department.
I regularly translate marketing & advertising material, magazines, catalogues, presentations, press conferences, press releases, financial statements, commercial correspondence, radio interviews, conference calls, event & conference information, promotional copy, web content, recipes, European Works Council transcripts, employment contracts and non-specialised text for the following clients (through agencies):

Proofreading and editing of French-English translations;
Proofreading and linguistic assessment of English source texts prior to delivery to translators;
Editor of the quarterly internal newsletter with sole responsibility for overseeing all production stages through to publication on the intranet and distribution company-wide;
Revision of multi-language translations on a word-by-word basis using glossaries, translation memories and reference material where appropriate to ensure correct and consistent use of client-approved terminology;
Checking layout of post-DTP PDF files;
Frequent liaison with translators/editors to clarify any linguistic issues arising as a result of the quality control process;
Marking up of amendments on the hard copy using standard proofing symbols and keying-in on-screen.
PERSONAL INTERESTS: I enjoy reading both Modern and Classical French and English literature and am learning Italian. As a member of my local leisure centre, I am a frequent visitor to the gym. I am also a keen cinema-goer.
