The Social Intranet and Digital Production Manager will play a crucial role in building a culture where colleagues can benefit from the new social elements of the intranet and transition our internal communications channels to the new platform. The role will focus on:
Encouraging user adoption of the social intranet and collaboration tools
Strategic use of the channel for internal communications
Ensuring engagement strategies meet user needs
Overseeing business critical content updates
Job profile:
Lead on internal communication campaigns to increase user adoption and engagement in social intranet content and tools
Design and implement internal communication plans based on Government Communications Service (GCS) best practice to drive engagement in the social intranet
Conduct research to understand intranet user needs and ensure communication and engagement activity across the wider internal communications team is responding to feedback. Involve users in the design of new features and campaigns
Develop the tactics, content and communities needed to grow the use of internal social channels and measurably ensure these drive effective collaboration between people across the business
Design and deliver a communications plan to support the close down and switch off of legacy intranet tools and pages
Lead on developing the intranet homepage, news and communications sections
Manage the intranet homepage to maintain a good balance of innovative and engaging content and tools. Work closely with the channels team to improve colleague engagement in content
Lead on the development of innovative and engaging highly visual content across the homepage and news sections, in particular people photography and use of design to engage the audience
Lead projects to improve sections of the intranet for key internal comms campaigns, corporate or news content or to deliver new tools in response to user needs
Work with other communications colleagues to develop, create and publish engaging digital content to support internal communications campaigns, upskilling others on the best use of digital content such as video, infographics and apps developed in-house. Build wider team capability in managing online content and understanding analytics, delivering training for all levels and leading on continuous improvement activity across the team
Manage the implementation of business critical updates to intranet content.
Set standards and lead on wider internal communications team engagement in social and interactive intranet tools
Establish processes to oversee the wider internal communications team responses to interactive elements of the site (blogs, groups and comments) ensuring colleagues are responded to in a timely and accurate way and that appropriate tone of voice is applied
Establish the standards, cultures and behaviours needed to make internal social media work well in DWP, be a prominent advocate for internal social media and encourage early adopters at all levels of the business
Monitor user-generated content for appropriateness and alignment to DWP objectives for the project, producing monthly dashboards, supporting community managers and wider DWP colleagues with tools to enable them to engage in the right way and escalating issues where needed
Establish evaluation framework to drive ongoing improvements
Monitor site analytics and provide regular reports on key performance indicators and recommendations to address insight from analytics
Digital production team management
Develop, lead and inspire the internal communications digital production team (IO designer and IO videographer). Project manage delivery of work, establish processes for quality assurance, provide coaching and day to day line management
Work closely with the DWP digital media team to ensure external social media content is used effectively internally and that we support and amplify our external social media campaigns through effective internal communications.
Stakeholder engagement
Build collaborative working relationship with digital colleagues, ensuring seamless coordination and providing project management oversight for all joint work
Prepare communications and stakeholder packs to engage senior stakeholders in social intranet plans, presenting face-to-face and via Lync
Establish relationships with counterparts in other Government departments in order to share and build on best practice

Essential skills and experience:
Experience of managing or implementing intranets or collaboration tools
Excellent verbal, written and visual communication skills
Strong leadership skills and team work, able to coordinate and facilitate activities with colleagues across functional boundaries
Experience of developing compelling communication strategies, plans and content based on research, insight and evidence
Experience of working and leading in large, complex organisations
Experience of coaching and managing direct reports
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with diplomacy
Highly desirable experience:
Project management and organisation skills
Highly experienced with Office applications
Creativity with a good understanding of design principles
Working in an internal/corporate Communications and or marketing function
Experience within a strong operational delivery environment
