Process - The equipment or manufacturing process being controlled.
Example: Pressure, Flow, Level, Temperature
Primary Element - Component that measures the process and transmits a signal that
provides the feedback in the closed-loop system.
Example: Sensors, Switches, Transmitters
Controller - The decision making component in the system. The controller generates
the required response to maintain the set point and send it to the final control element.
Example: Loop controller, PLC
Final Control Element - Component that regulates the principal
agent that changes
the process.
Example: Control valve, Variable Frequency Drives
Set-point - The desired valve for a process variable. Usually a part of the controller.
