Facebook for Android
Overview:
As one of the largest mobile services in the world with more than 200 million active users, Facebook Mobile collaborates closely with mobile device makers and operating system providers to bring the best Facebook experience that leverages innovative mobile experiences. A year ago we launched Facebook for Android following our close work with Google and over the past twelve months we’ve worked closely with them and their device partners to bring the social experience to a range of Android-powered devices. Today we are delivering an updated app for Android devices that includes features that people will be excited about. First the initial version of Places will be included in the native application and won’t require people to check-in from a website from their Android device. Secondly our newest product, Groups, will be part of the native application as well. We’ve also added a highly requested feature with an updated notifications feature that won’t send you off to the browser as long as there is an appropriate destination within the application itself. Additionally the updated Facebook for Android application will allow people an easy single sign-on access to certain third-party applications like games, which utilize Facebook’s social graph to operate.
Highlights:
People can check-in to Places without having to leave the native Facebook for Android application.
People can stay up-to-date with the Facebook Groups they are members of without leaving the Facebook for Android app.
An update to the notifications features which won’t send you off to the browser as long as that notification has an appropriate destination within the application itself, you will be taken there.
