    Home Edition and Portable Computers

    If you use Windows XP Home Edition, or if you’re running Windows XP Professional on a portable computer, you cannot create or use dynamic disks

    To convert a basic disk to a dynamic disk

    In the Disk Management window, right-click the disk you want to convert and choose Convert To Dynamic Disk

    You cannot convert back to basic without erasing all the data

    Creating Partitions on a Basic Disk

    In Disk Management, right-click an unallocated space, select New Partition
