It is very difficult to give children access to the internet. There are many things which are not suitable for children. The history of Internet began in the United States in 1969. It was a military experiment, designed to help to survive during a nuclear war, when everything around might be polluted by radiation and it would be dangerous to get out for any living being to get some information to anywhere. Information sent over the Internet takes the shortest and safest path available from one computer to another. Because of this, any two computers on the net will be able to stay in touch with each other as long as there is a single route between them. This technology was called packet switching.
Invention of modems, special devices allowing your computer to send the information through the telephone line, has opened doors to the Internet for millions of people. Whole generations are growing up addicted to the internet. Food is left uneaten, homework undone, and sleep is lost.
Internet hasn’t been with us all the time, but we are already beginning to forget what the world was like without it. What did we use to do before there was internet? First of all we never found it difficult to spend our free time. We used to have hobbies, we used to entertain our friends and be entertained by them, we used to go outside for our amusements to theatres, cinemas, restaurants and sporting events. We even used to read books and listen to music.

Advantages of the internet.
I think using internet has more advantages then disadvantages. First of all, Internet provides access to a lot of information. Searching the net with Google, you can find everything you want. You can also do shopping using Internet. You need only to select what you want, fill in some forms and click ok. In a few days you will get what you have ordered directly to your home, without going anywhere. You can pay with your credit card, pay postman when you get the package, or transfer money from your bank account. Next advantage of internet is email. Internet mails get in a few seconds in their destinations.
Disadvantages of the internet
Beside a lot of advantages, Internet has some disadvantages too. First of disadvantages is that people who spend too much time sitting in the front of computer can easily gets ill. Radiation emitted by computer’s screen is harmful to eyes. People who spend too much time at their homes (because they needn’t go anywhere, they can do everything using Internet) are getting weaker. Sitting a for long time is also harmful to the spine.
Second disadvantage is that Internet can by addictive. Some people just can’t live without it. They have no real friends and when Internet is down they are getting furious.
Internet has some opponents but more and more people treats Internet like telephone, or radio. They use it for fun and work.
Since the time of Internet appearance, many other media sources became unnecessary. From one side, it’s great to have everything right here online, from the other side, it’s a shame that people have stopped reading paper books and newspapers. That’s because all books or prints can be found online, as well as all films and programs.
Parents allow to sit many time at the computer to the children that at home it was quiet. Some parents teach small children to use the computer.
