Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000:
** Before beginning installation:
If the machine that you are installing on is running Terminal Services, you should use the Add/Remove programs option in the Control Panel to install all applications. To do this, you will have to browse the CD for the setup file for each individual application. The path of each installation/setup file should be listed in each section. All references to files on the CD assume the CD drive letter is “D”.
You MUST install using a login that has administrator rights.
1. If the server is NOT running Terminal Services, you should use the Auto Install menu for all applications. The Installation/Update CD should automatically run the auto install menu. If the menu does not start automatically upon loading the CD then open My Computer or Windows Explorer. You should see an icon for the CD it should be labeled "Compusource". Double-click the icon to run the auto-installation menu. If that still does not work, double-click the autorun.exe file.
2. Install U/BL.
From the main CD menu, click on the "U/BL" icon to get to the U/BL Installation menu.
There are two installation options for U/BL, but you should run the "Windows 2000 / XP" (D:\UBL\WINDOWS\Fr2k500.exe) option to start the installation for Windows 2000 or Windows XP operating systems and run the “Windows NT” (D:\UBL\WINDOWS\Frwi500.exe) for all other versions of Windows, including Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows NT.
*Note: The “Windows NT” option can also be used on Windows 2000 if not using Active Directory Structure.
U/BL 5.xx Installation Passwords:
Win2000/XP: u32orrn (letter u, number 3, number 2, letter o, letter r, letter r, letter n)
Win 9x/NT: u32ornr (letter u, number 3, number 2, letter o, letter r, letter n, letter r)
The "Finish" box will remain inactive (dim) until the password is typed correctly.
- If you are updating a previous version of U/BL, a prompt will be displayed asking if you wish to update the current version. You should say “Y”, and then all the users and environment settings will be saved.
- You should try to install U/BL on drive C: if possible. Also, U/BL and MCMS/VanS do not have to be installed on the same drive, but must be installed on the same server.
The following instructions are taken from the U/BL installation release notes and apply to all Windows 2000 installations (These were taken directly from the Transoft release notes, but some changes have been made.):
