MS-DOS
The base of many Windows unless the operating system base (Windows 1-3) or integrated (Windows 95-ME). Only the versions of NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP and later come from without. It is a purely text-based operating system without graphical user interface. All commands must be typed. For example, "time" for time setting "md" for folder creation. The latest version of Microsoft DOS is the integrated 8.x. The last real DOS version, which was to buy it was 6.22 (from 1994).
The first version, 1.0, was in August 1981.
Minimum system: 8086 / 8088 CPU or compatible; 64-256 KB RAM
