Abstract. The article discusses ways to recycle lead production slag. According
to him, lead-producing slag contains heavy non-ferrous metals such as copper, zinc
and lead, and it is economically viable to separate these metals from the slag. The
article proposes a fumigation method for processing slag with such a composition.
This means that the processing of this lead-producing slag can save natural resources
and expand the source of raw materials. In addition, the processing of metallurgical
slag will improve the ecological condition of the area and restore fertile lands.
Keywords: lead, copper, zinc, slag, processing, fumigation, high temperature,
metal vapors.
Up to 90% Zn, up to 20% Cu, up to 3% Pb, small amounts of indium,
germanium, tin, noble and other metals pass into the slags of mine smelting.
Lead slag processing is currently a mandatory stage in the closed technological
scheme of lead production and allows bringing the total lead recovery to 97 - 98%
[1].
For the processing of slags of the reduction smelting of lead in order to extract
most of the valuable components from them, fuming, Waelz and electrothermia are
used.
Fuming (slag sublimation) is the process of reducing the treatment of liquid
slags by blowing a mixture of air with a reducing agent (natural gas or coal dust) at a
temperature of 1200-
1300 ° C [2].
Under the conditions of a highly reducing atmosphere necessary for the
stripping of zinc, lead, indium and cadmium sublime rapidly at the beginning of the
fuming process. For stripping zinc requires 2.5-3 hours. During this time, its content
in the slag is reduced to 2%. Further stripping of zinc is economically
disadvantageous, since the rate of the process sharply decreases and the consumption
of the reducing agent increases [3].
