    OPTIMIZATION OF PIN INJECTOR ELEMENTS

    FOR COMBUSTION CHAMBER

    OF POWERFUL LIQUID ROCKET ENGINE

    The optimization of pin injector elements on combustion completeness at use in the combustion chamber of LRE of large thrust is conducted by series of calculations. Their specific advantages and disadvantages are shown. Calculations of steady three-dimensional turbulent mixing of oxidizer flow and fuel jets with combustion were conducted on base of Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes equations and flamelet-model.

    THREE-DIMENSIONAL CALCULATION OF GAS-DYNAMIC PARAMETERS OF COMBUSTION PRODUCTS IN ANNULAR CHAMBER OF LIQUID ROCKET ENGINE WITH ROTATING DETONATION
    The numerical model of calculation of gas-dynamic parameters in the combustion chamber with a rotating detonation wave for propellant – kerosene and oxygen has developed on basis of three-dimensional Euler equations and equations of chemical kinetics. The software complex with a graphical interface has developed for calculations of three-dimensional flows in an annular detonation combustion chamber on "Lomonosov" multiprocessor supercomputer of MSU.

    It’s found by calculation that there is a regular mode of combustion with rotating detonation, at which the average total pressure at exit of cylindrical annular detonation combustion chamber (1.5 – 1.8 times in comparison with total pressure in front of chamber) is increased and Mach number at exit of chamber is increased up to about M=1,2. These results are subject to experimental verification.

    THE LAYOUT SCHEMES OF PERSPECTIVE LAUNCH-VEHICLES, EQUIPPED WITH MULTI-CHAMBER PROPULSION SYSTEMS AND COMPOSITE NOZZLE BLOCKS WITH AUTOREGULATION
    Design problems of layout schemes of multi-stage launch-vehicles (LV) and aerospace systems (ASS), equipped with multi-chamber propulsion units (PU) and a composite nozzle blocks with autoregulation are considered. New design-layout schemes of LV and ASS equipped with PU with LRE, simultaneously starting to operate from the launch of the first and second stages of LV, are presented. Proposals for technological improvements of flight-technical characteristics of domestic perspective LV by improving the altitude performances of PU (increase of averaged on trajectory specific impulse) at first and second stages operation, as well as to reduce the drag of LV and ASS during the atmospheric phase of flight are developed. The results of previously conducted works in Russia and abroad on the design of layout schemes of LV with pin nozzles are presented.

    OPERATOR’ INTERFACE OF SYSTEM OF FUNCTIONAL DIAGNOSTICS OF LRE
    Description of the operator’ interface of system of functional diagnostics of LРRE is presented. Such system ensures the execution of calculation procedures used to diagnose the correct functioning at fire tests with the use of mathematical models of stationary processes, results of autonomous tests of individual units and results of measurements of slowly changing parameters. The interface is used as in the "man – machine" interactive dialogue, and in the automatic mode in the pace of fire tests.

    MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF DYNAMIC PROCESSES OF PRESSURE STABILIZER OF POWERFUL ROCKET ENGINES

    The mathematical model of dynamic processes of pressure stabilizer, made on single-stage scheme with spool-and-sleeve.     APPLICATION OF CALCULATION - EXPERIMENTAL MODEL FOR FORECAST OF PARAMETERS OF OPERATIONAL PROCESSES OF LRE IN CYCLE OF REPEATED FIRE TESTS
    The algorithm of formation of calculation-experimental model (CEM) of LPRE is presented. Such algorithm provides forecast of parameters of operational processes of LRE at repeated fire test. The efficiency of use of CEM at multiple fire tests in a wide range of control by thrust and mixture ratio, and at change of fuel brands.

    EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF LASER IGNITION OF OXYGEN-KEROSENE PROPELLANT IN LRE CHAMBERS




    Results of third phase of study, conducted by NPO Energomash, for investigation of laser ignition of oxygen-kerosene propellant are presented. Main objective of experiments is test of steering and main chambers of RD107 and РД108 engines with propellant ignition by laser ignition unit at conditions close to standard launch conditions.

    HEAT EXCHANGERS OF RD119 ENGINE OF "COSMOS" LAUNCH-VEHICLE
    This article supplements the series of articles dedicated to improvement of heat exchangers of NPO Energomash development included in LRE composition and intended for pressurization of propellant tanks of launch-vehicles. Shell-tube nitrogen evaporator of RD107 and RD108 engines, cylindrical heat exchanger of RD171 engine and plate-fin pressurization unit of single-chamber LRE had been considered previously. Principle scheme of pressurization system of propellant tanks of second stage of "Cosmos" LV is presented in article. Descriptions of designs and coolants flow schemes, technological and overall-mass characteristics, features of development of designs and main parameters of shell-tube evaporator of oxygen and mixer of RD119 engine are presented.

    RESULTS OF AUTONOMOUS DEVELOPMENT OF IMPROVED PRESSURIZATION UNIT
    Autonomous development of plate-fin improved pressurization unit (IPU), designed for single-chamber liquid rocket engine and intended for pressurization of oxidizer tank and fuel tank of launch-vehicle has conducted in NPO Energomash.
    Tank Tank (ing . tank - sisterna, bak) - zanjirli (gusenitsali) zirxlangan jangovar mashina. Turli nishonlarni yoʻq qilish, ekipajni ishonchli himoyalash, turli xil toʻsiklardan bemalol oʻtish xususiyatiga ega.
    According to work results the analysis of strength, tightness, quality of production, operational performance of IPU at dynamic vibro-loads to check for compliance with requirements is conducted.

    RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF NEW VERSION OF A LIFT-OFF SEAL OF OXIDIZER PUMP

    OF RD191 ENGINE
    Results of calculation and design works on experimental lift-off seal operating at high pressure drop and designed to sealing liquid oxygen in oxidizer pump presents are presented in article. Results of autonomous tests proving operability of seal at conditions close to operational ones are presented. Comparison of characteristics of experimental variants with base lift-off seal of RD191 engine, confirmed high efficiency of experimental seal is conducted.

    ABOUT SOME FEATURES OF TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTION IN DESIGNS OF LRE DURING BRAZING
    Calculation analysis of non-stationary distribution of temperature in design elements at brazing of units of LRE is presented. Results show difference both on depth of heating and time of heating elements of different thicknesses, which can be as cause of temperature difference appearance and thermal stresses in design.

    DETERMINATION OF THICKNESS OF SILVER COATING BY METHOD OF X-RAY FLUORESCENCE ANALYSIS
    Methods of determination of thickness of plated silver coating deposited on ribbed bronze wall by method of x-ray fluorescence analysis is developed and dependence of coating thickness against concentration of silver is received. Critical coating thickness – boundary of applicability of method – is determined. Experimental test of methods by determination of coating thickness on ribbed walls of real production units is conducted.

    CAUSES OF PREMATURE DESTRUCTION OF FUEL PUMP CASINGS OF AK9ч ALLOY DURING HYDROSTATIC TESTS

    Microstructural and fractographical researches of material of cast housing of fuel pump of 14D14M engines, destroyed prematurely during hydrotests, are conducted. Analysis of research results allowed to formulate recommendations on possible ways to improve quality of castings.

    ENSURING OPERATIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF TURBINES OF TPU AT ITS WORK IN COMPOSITION OF LRE

    Influence on characteristics of turbines of TPU complex of efforts implemented in accordance with NPO Energomash’ methodology in process of ensuring required margins of operability and reliability of turbines of TPU and engine in the whole is researched. Results of model tests on air of six low-speed reactive turbines of TPU of powerfull liquid rocket engine of NPO Energomash’ design are summarized. Qualitative relations of influence of increase of radial and axial gaps, thickening of edges of nozzle and working blades on efficiency and axial force of turbines are determined. Received results can be used to design turbines of advanced new engines and to increase efficiency and reliability of production engines.

    ABOUT PROBLEMS WITH USE OF HIGH-STRENGTH ALLOYS IN OXIDIZER PUMP IMPELLER OF LRE

    A comparative analysis of two alternative technologies of manufacturing oxidizer pump impeller: by powder (granular) metallurgy and by method of investment casting is presented. Possibility and conditions of use in oxidizer pump more economical cast impeller instead of powder impeller of ЭП741НП granulated alloy are validated.

    AUTOMATED COMPLEX OF TESTING OF THICKNESS OF TECHNOLOGICAL COATINGS OF LRE ELEMENTS

    The problem of non-destructive testing (NDT) of thickness of technological coatings of liquid rocket engines (LRE) elements is considered. For its solution, it is proposed to use method of X-ray fluorescent analysis. Automated complex of testing of thickness of technological coating of elements, consisting of measuring X-ray emitter, digital spectrometric device and precision positioning system based on ball-screw drives with position check by laser triangulation sensors is developed. Results of approbation of complex for testing of thickness of technological coatings on real samples of LRE parts are presented.
