    Nowruz 'New Day'
    • Spring holiday Navruz. The holiday is celebrated on March 21st. According to the Eastern calendar, Navruz marks the beginning of the New Year. In independent Uzbekistan, Navruz acquired a new meaning: it became a national holiday. A few days before Navruz, people usually arrange hashar, during which they clean and decorate their cities.

    Independence Day 

    • Independence Day is the main and most revered holiday in Uzbekistan. The country gained independence on August 31, 1991. On Independence Day, folk festivals and concerts are held in all cities of Uzbekistan.

    Constitution Day

    • The residents of Uzbekistan could enjoy their civil rights only after the Constitution had been adopted. It was such an important political event for Uzbek people that in 1992 the date of December 8th was proclaimed as Constitution Day, a yearly national holiday.

    Commemoration Day

    • The calendar of national holidays of Uzbekistan also has a Day of Remembrance, which is celebrated on May 9. On this day, the memory of all citizens of Uzbekistan who gave their lives for the freedom of their homeland, fought courageously in the Great Patriotic War is honored.

    Women's Day

    • March 8th is celebrated as International Women's Day in Uzbekistan. On this day men of all ages and status show their love and respect to women, give them flowers and presents.

    Teacher's Day

    • October 1st is celebrated as National Teacher's Day. In Uzbekistan, Teacher's Day is celebrated as a red day. All students congratulate their teachers on the holiday.

    New Year's Day

    • New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are also celebrated by Uzbek people with great enthusiasm. In every family a New Year tree is decorated and a feast is prepared. Outdoor fetes take place, too. Various entertainment programs are broadcast on TV.

    Ramadan holiday .

    • One of the Muslim holidays is Ramadan.During Ramadan, Muslims not only fast, but also traditionally donate to those in need.

    Ramazan-Khait

    • Ramadan Khait is a holiday of moral purification and spiritual rebirth. This holiday comes after a 30-day fast. These days it is customary to commemorate the dead, visit and help the sick, the lonely and the poor.

    Kurban-Khait

    • There are many religious holidays among the state holidays of Uzbekistan. They are celebrated according to the Muslim lunar calendar. In Soviet times, these holidays were banned in Uzbekistan. One of them is Kurban Khait.
