Note:

"cp." (=compare) does not mean that the Mongolian word is related to the non-Mongolian words listed here. It only means that they might be related, but the question needs further scrutiny.

The use of "cp." is a way to avoid the controversial notion of Altaic, which had served, at first, to cover the loose group of Turkic, Mongolian and Manchu-Tungusic languages, but later on several linguists also added Korean and even Japanese to the so-called "Altaic languages".
