MÖVZU: How I spend my summer holiday
Bakı-2023
Summertime is the most awaited time of any student’s life. It gives them a break from the scorching sun and blazing heat. The summer months are quite hot, however, students love them because they bring a sense of calmness due to the vacations. It frees them from the monotonous and dull routine of university and studies.
Most importantly, summer vacations give us a chance to explore new things. We can adopt new hobbies like painting, dancing, singing and more during this time. Furthermore, it gives us a chance to visit our grandparents or to someplace abroad. Summer vacations bring all types of fun.
I made the choice this year to remain home for the summer instead of taking a trip. In the afternoons, I aided my mother in the kitchen and my father with a few accounting-related jobs. I felt the most connected to and engaged with my family during this period. I then went out with pals for the remainder of the evening. Additionally, I watched a few movies and web series. These TV episodes and films not only entertained me, but also gave me some valuable life lessons. I used my summer break to spend more time with my family and myself than I could have during the school year. I came to see how productive and fulfilling spending vacations at home truly was.
For foodies like myself, Kabala is also a nice treat. Kabala’s cuisine is peculiar in that there is no middle ground, with little eateries serving just quick food, fine restaurants serving costly booze, and cafés serving a range of teas and cold beverages. Indulgent salami burgers were what we enjoyed on weekdays on our evening stroll.
We used to become exhausted in the evening after all these days full of activity, but the nightlife there or just gazing up at the stars made us feel really happy and re-energized. Curvy roads force one to see those beautiful hills from all directions, big trees that are standing erect, and that brisk air that exalts one’s spirit and emotions.
Bazarduzu, the highest mountain peak of the republic, Tufangöl, the highest mountain lake, and Mucukh waterfall are located in Gabala.
Gabala is located at the southern foot of the Great Caucasus Mountains, 250 km from the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku. Gabala, distinguished by rare natural climatic conditions and mineral springs, is also famous for a large number of historical monuments and material-cultural examples.
Every stone, every tree, every rock of Gabala is a living history, priceless pearls left to us by our ancestors. There are more than 90 nationally important historical, ethnographic and cultural monuments in Gabala. Many of these monuments are located not only in the city of Gabala, but also in the surrounding districts and villages. The list of important historical monuments of Gabala includes the 18th-century Juma Mosque, the 1st-millennium stone mound in the village of Buyuk Amirli, the 4th-century Albanian mosque on Kilsa Mountain, tombs in the village of Hazra, and the Girls’ Castle in the south of the village of Yengica. ), Surkhay Castle and many other important monuments.
It is a modern city with asphalt roads and streets, magnificent buildings, an international airport, a world-class congress hall, five-star hotels, beautiful parks, sports fields, and recreation centers. Modern Gabala, whose architecture is changing and becoming more beautiful day by day, is considered one of the main tourist destinations of Azerbaijan.
The famous "chestnut forest", the picturesque villages of Vandam, Qamarvan, Yengija, Nohurqishlaq, Bum, Hamzali, Durca, Bunut, Nic became my favorite places.
Lake Nohur, which is eye-catching with the majestic Caucasus Mountains, clean air and clear water, is one of the most attractive places in Gabala.
Nohur lake, quiet atmosphere and the sound of birds create an ideal environment to relax from the city noise. Although people are not allowed to bathe in the lake (the lake also acts as a water reservoir and provides drinking water for Gabala and surrounding regions), it is an ideal place for fishing. Here you can also enjoy the surrounding scenery by going on small boats and catamarans.
Gabala also attracts attention with its unique, delicious and complete cuisine. Different types of baklavas, Hamzali halva made with walnuts can be found nowhere else but in Gabala. Plov and dasharas kabab are considered the king of Gabala cuisine.
There is a carpet shop and a woodcarving workshop in Vendam Village.
I rented a horse and walked around the “Duyma” recreation area located at the foot of the mountain.
Seven beautiful waterfalls, one of the most famous tourist attractions of Gabala, are located 6 kilometers from Vandam village and 3 kilometers from the main road over Puskan settlement.
Here, the water pouring from different ravines forms a seven-tiered waterfall. Only two small waterfalls are visible from below. To see the remaining five waterfalls, one has to climb up steep steps, which requires some physical strength. However, a mysterious panorama awaits those who cross this difficult path. There is also a restaurant and teahouse. The waterfall is always dark and cool because it is located in a thick forest where the sun’s rays do not penetrate.
“Gabaland” or “Caucasus Park” is the largest entertainment center not only in Gabala, but also in the entire region. I had a great time there.
A complex for rock climbers, buildings for extreme sports, an indoor ice rink, boats falling into the water from a height of 8 meters and other means of entertainment are available to visitors.
In August, visitors to Gabala can visit the International Jam Festival held here to taste unusual types of jam.
In addition to traditional types of jams made from strawberries, apricots, plums, blackberries, quinces, acorns and other fruits, exotic varieties – potatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, peppers, ginger, mint, dandelion, pumpkin seeds, rosemary, beets and other ingredients are used here. I also came across jams. It was very interesting for me
