How to configure Auto logon for Windows 7
Log on to the Workstation by selecting computer only logon and with the credentials for NWUuser.
Click on the Start button.
In the “Search programs and files” box, type cmd and at the top of the menu list under the Programs heading, right click cmd (command line program) and click “Run as administrator”. If the User Access Control box appears, prompting for confirmation of the action, click Yes.
NOTE: It is very important to run the command line program as administrator otherwise none of the settings will be saved.
At the command prompt type the following: control userpasswords2 and press Enter.
The User Accounts menu will appear.
Click on the NWUuser account and Untick the box stating that Users must enter a username and password to use this computer.
Click on the Apply button.
Type compaq for the password in both the “Password” and “Confirm Password” lines of the Automatically Log On box.
Click on Ok twice to close the menu boxes.
Close all other open windows.
Make sure the Novell Client for Windows 7 is installed and functioning correctly.
Browse to C:\Files\AutoLogon.reg copied in the beginning of this procedure. Right click the file (AutoLogon.reg) and select Merge.
If the User Access Control box appears, prompting for confirmation of the action, click Yes.
Reboot the computer and confirm that the user is NOT asked for the Windows username and password (NWUuser: compaq). NOTE: If this fails to work correctly, go back and follow the steps of part “2. How to configure Auto logon for Windows 7” of this procedure again and reboot the computer to test.
