    Windows® 95 setup and INF download instructions

    Was your monitor selected on startup.

    You can verify that the correct monitor was selected by the following:

    1. Right mouse click on the desktop (move the mouse cursor to an empty spot on the screen and click the right mouse button), select "Properties" and left mouse click to open the Display Properties dialog box.

    2. In the Display Properties dialog box, click on the Settings Tab

    3. Depending upon which version of Windows 95 you have, you will click on the "Change Display Type" or "Advanced Properties" button

    4. If your monitor is listed in the Monitor Type field or listed under the Monitor tab the system has detected your new monitor, all that is needed now,  is for you to select the preferred resolution and refresh rate.

    If your monitor is not detected automatically continue with "Selecting your monitor in the Display Properties box"

    1. If you have the "Advanced Properties" version click on the Monitor tab, then Change button. If you have the "Change Display Type" version, click Monitor Type "Change" button.

    2. Select the "Show all devices" radio icon in the Select device dialog box. Under Manufacturers: scroll down and select NEC Technologies. In the Models section scroll through the list of NEC monitors and select your MultiSync monitor.

    3. Click OK.

    If your monitor is not listed, close all dialog boxes and proceed to "NECMSINF.ZIP" file Download Instructions.

    TIP: You must unzip NECMSINF.ZIP to extract NEC-Mon.inf after it has been download to your system. Record where you download the file on your hard drive, or download it to a floppy disk.

    1. Download NECMSINF.ZIP, (the Windows 95/98/2000 NEC-Mon.inf file) from NEC's Internet.

    2. To complete the download, follow the instructions displayed on your screen.

    3. When the download is completed, you need to unzip the file. If you do not have an unzip utility, one can be obtained from http://www.winzip.com/

    Proceed to Un-zip NECMSINF.ZIP

    The following example is using WinZip version 6.3 SR-1 (926) 32-bit.

    1. Double click on NECMSINF.ZIP

    1. At the WinZip Wizard - Welcome dialog box, click the  "Next" button.



    1. At the WinZip Wizard - Unzip (necmsinf.zip) dialog box, you will see the message Click "Unzip Now" to unzip to the selected folder. Select the destination folder on your hard drive, or save the file to a floppy disk by clicking the "Select different folder" button. Or accept the folder listed under "Selected Folder". Click the  "Unzip Now" button.



    1. At the WinZip Wizard - Unzip Complete dialog box, click the "Close" button.

    Proceed to "Installing the NEC-Mon.inf file to Windows 95"

    1. Right mouse click on the desktop and select "Properties"

    2. In the Display Properties box, click on the Settings Tab

    3. Depending upon which version of Windows 95 you have, you will click on the "Change Display Type" or "Advanced Properties" button

    4. If you have the "Advanced Properties" version click on the Monitor tab, then Change button. If you have the "Change Display Type" version, click Monitor Type Change button.

    5. Select the "Show all devices" radio icon in the Select device dialog box. Under Manufacturers: scroll down and select NEC Technologies.

    6. Select NEC Technologies Inc.; from the manufactures list , then click the "Have Disk" Button

    7. In the command line , identify where the NECMon.inf file is located and click the "OK" Button.

    8. This will now update the NEC MultiSync/AccuSync list which includes your new monitor type.

    9. Under Manufacturers: scroll down and select NEC Technologies. In the Models section scroll through the list of NEC monitors and select your MultiSync/AccuSync monitor.

    10. Click OK.
