Service Pack 3 Installation:
Locate the “Windows NT Service Pack 3” CD-ROM and load it in the CD-ROM drive.
When it comes up, close the “Windows NT Service Pack 3 – Microsoft Internet Explorer” window by clicking on the “X” in the upper right corner of the window.
Click on the “Start” Button and select “Run…” from the pop-up menu.
In the “Run” window, type “e:\spsetup” and click on the “OK” button.
In the “Welcome” window, click on the “Next” button.
In the “Software License Agreement” window, click on the “Yes” button.
In the “Service Pack Setup” window, make sure “Install the Service Pack” is selected and then click on the “Next” button.
In the “Service Pack Setup” window, select “No, I do not want to create an uninstall directory” then click on the “Next” button.
In the “Service Pack Setup” window, click on the “Finish” button.
The software will now be copied to the computer. If a “Confirm File Replace” window comes up, press the “Yes” button. This may occur several times.
In the “Windows NT Service Pack Setup” window, click on the “OK” button. The computer will now reboot.
Remove the Windows NT Service Pack 3 CD-ROM from the CD-ROM drive.
This completes the Installation of Service Pack 3.
Ancillary Item Installation:
When the computer is back up, log on to the “Administrator” account using the “perceptics” password.
Locate the “ATI International Installation CD…” and load it into the CD-ROM drive.
When the “ATI CD Install” program starts, click on the “ATI Easy Install” menu item.
Click on the “Next” button in the “Welcome” window.
Click on the “Yes” button in the “Software License Agreement” window.
Click on the “Express: Recommended” button in the “Select Components” window.
Make sure the “Yes, I want to restart my computer now” radio button is on, then click the “Finish” button in the “Setup Complete” window. This will reboot the computer.
When the computer is back up, log on to the “Administrator” account using the “perceptics” password.
Click on the “OK” button in the “Invalid Display Settings” window.
Select “256 Colors” in the “Color Palette” field.
Move the “Desktop Area” slider to “800 by 600 pixels”.
Click on the “Test” button in the “Display Properties” window.
Click on the “OK” button in the “Testing Mode” window. The screen display will change.
Click on the “Yes” button in the “Testing Mode” window.
Click on the “OK” button in the “Display Properties” window. The screen will go blank, and then be displayed again at the new higher resolution.
Remove the “ATI International Installation CD…” from the CD-ROM drive.
Click the “Start” button then select “Programs” from the pop-up menu. Select “Administrative Tools (Common)” from the next menu, and then start the “Event Viewer” program by clicking on it.
There should be no events with a red dot to the left of them from the last time the system was booted up.
In the “Event Viewer – System Log on…” window, click on the “Log” menu item. Select “Clear All Events” by clicking on it.
In the “Clear Event Log” window, click on the “No” button.
In the “Clear Event Log” window, click on the “Yes” button.
Close the “Event Viewer” window by clicking on the “X” in the upper right corner of the window.
*Click on the “Start” button and select “Settings” from the pop-up menu, then click on the “Control Panel” program.
*Double click on the “Devices” icon.
*In the “Devices” window, scroll down the “Device” list to verify that there is a “Bit3 UISR (Perceptics)” item listed and its status is “Started” and the startup is “Automatic”.
*In the “Devices” window, click on the “Close” button.
*Close the “Control Panel” window clicking on the “X” in the upper right hand corner of that window.
Click on the “Start” button and move the mouse to the “Programs” menu item on the pop-up menu. Move the mouse pointer to the “Administrative Tools (Common)” menu item, then move it to “User Manager” and click once.
Move the mouse pointer to the “User” menu item and click once, then select “New User…” from the drop down menu.
Type “support” in the “Username” field.
Type “Perceptics Support” in the “Full Name” field. Note: Remove Guest Account
Type “Perceptics support account” in the “Description” field.
Type “perceptics” in the “Password” and “Confirm Password” fields. Again, make sure you type both of these in all lower case.
Make sure password never expires box is checked and none of the other boxes are checked.
Click once on the “Groups” button.
In the “Group Memberships” window, move the mouse pointer to the “Administrators” line in the “Not a member of” part of the window and click once to highlight it. Click on the “Add” button.
Click on the “OK” button.
In the “New User” window, click on the “OK” button.
Close the “User Manager” window by clicking on the “X” in the upper right corner of the window.
Move the mouse pointer to a blank area of the desktop, and click once with the RIGHT mouse button.
Select properties from the pop up menu.
Screensaver setup
Click on the “Screen Saver” tab.
Move the mouse to the down arrow in the “Screen Saver” field and click once.
Select “3D Text (OpenGL)” from the pull down menu.
Click on the “Settings” button in the “Display Properties” window.
Move the mouse pointer to the “Text” entry line in the “Display” section of the window, and click one time. Press the “End” key to move the mouse pointer to the end of the line. Press the “Backspace” key until all the existing text has been erased.
Type “Site_Inbound” (or “Site_Outbound” for outbound units) in the “Text” line.
Move the “Speed” slider all the way to the left (“Slow”) by clicking on it and holding the mouse button down while moving the mouse left.
Move the mouse to the “Choose Font” button and click one time.
Select “Times New Roman” and “Bold” from the “Font” window, and then click on the “OK” button.
Click on the “OK” button in the “3D Text Setup” window.
Click on the “OK” button in the “Display Properties” window.
