RocketPort Setup:
Locate the “USCS_Stuff” CD-RW (or CD-R) disk, and load it into the CD-ROM drive.
Click on the “Start” button, the select “Run…”.
In the “Run” window, type “e:\uscs_large” in the “Open” field, and then click on the “OK” button. This will create several directories on the C: & D: drives and copy several files to them. The copy will take a few minutes.
When the copy is done, and the "C:\WINNT\System32\CMD.exe" window is highlighted, press any key to close the program.
Click on the "Start" button, then select "Settings" from the pop-up menu, and click once on the "Control Panel" icon.
In the "Control Panel" window, double click on the "Network" icon.
In the "Network" window, click on the "Adapters" tab.
In the "Network" window, click on the "Add…" button.
In the "Select Network Adapter", click on the "Have Disk…" button.
Type "C:\comtrol" in the field asking for a file location, and then click on the "OK" button.
In the "Select OEM Option" window, make sure "Comtrol RocketPort/RocketModem" is highlighted then click on the "OK" button.
In the "Add Device Wizard" window, click on the "Next" button.
The next window is another "Add Device Wizard" window. Make sure that "PCI bus" is selected and click on the "Next" button.
In the "Add Device Wizard" window, make sure "RocketPort" is selected and then click on the "Next" button.
In the "Add Device Wizard" window, make sure the correct number of ports is highlighted. This should be "16", so change it to “16” if it is not. Click on the "Next" button.
In the "Add Device Wizard" window, click on the "Finish" button.
In the "Device Properties" window, change the "Starting COM Port" to "COM10". Leave everything else OK on this window. Click on the "OK" button.
In the "RocketPort/RocketModem, NT Setup, Comtrol Corp." window, click on the "OK" button.
In the small "RocketPort/RocketModem, NT Setup, Comtrol Corp." window, click on the "Yes" button.
If a window comes up informing you that you will need to reboot before the settings will take effect, click on the "OK" button to close that window.
In the "Network" window, click on the "Close" button.
Remove the “USCS_Stuff” disk from the CD-ROM disk drive.
In the "Network Settings Change" window, click on the "Yes" button.
The computer will now reboot.
When the computer is back up, log on to the “Administrator” account, using the "perceptics" password.
Close the "Control Panel" by clicking on the "X" in the upper right corner of the window.
Close the "Comtrol RocketPort…" window by clicking on the "X" in the upper right corner up of the window.
This completes the setup of the RocketPort.
Click on the "Start" button then select "Run…" from the pop-up menu.
In the "Run" window, type "c:\bit3\983\setup" in the "Open" window and click on the "OK" button.
In the "Welcome" window, click on the "Next" button.
In the "Setup Type" window, make sure "Typical" is selected and then click on the "Next" button.
In the "Select Program Folder" window, click on the "Next" button.
In the "Start Copying Files" window, click on the "Next" button.
Close the "Bit3" window by clicking on the "X" in the upper right corner of the window.
In the "Setup Complete" window, click on the "Finish" button.
The computer will now reboot.
When the computer is back up, log on to the “Administrator” account, using the "perceptics" password.
Click on the "Start" button then select "Programs" from the pop-up menu, then select "Bit3" and then click once on the "BTQCheck" program. This will start a Bit3 diagnostic program.
In the "BT_Qcheck" window, click on the "Test" menu item, and then select "Start Test" from the drop down menu.
In the "Start Test" window, click on the "OK" button.
In the "BT_QCh1" window, make sure all these tests complete. If they do not, the Bit3 PCI card is defective. If the tests complete successfully, then close the "BT_QCh1" window by clicking on the "X" in the upper right corner of that window.
Close the "BT_Qcheck" window by clicking on the "X" in the upper right corner of that window.
Click on the "Start" button and select "Run…" from the pop-menu. In the "Run" window, type "c:\bit3\uisr\install" in the "Open" field then click on the "OK" button. This will load the device driver for the Bit3 card, and set it up to load every time the computer is rebooted.
Press any key on the keyboard to finish this install.
Click on the "Start" button and select "Settings" from the pop-up menu. Click on the "Control Panel" menu item.
In the "Control Panel" window, double click on the "System" icon.
In the "System Properties" window, click on the "Environment" tab.
In the "System Properties" window, scroll down the system variables until the "Path" variable is visible.
Highlight the "Path" variable by clicking on it.
Move the mouse pointer to the "Value" field, and click one time in that field. A text insertion line should appear approximately where you clicked.
Press the "End" key to move the insertion pointer to the end of the line.
Type ";C:\IPUtil" at the end of the text that is already there.
In the "Systems Properties" window, click on the "Set" button.
In the "Systems Properties" window, click on the "Apply" button.
In the "Systems Properties" window, click on the "OK" button.
Close the "Control Panel" window by clicking on the "X" in the upper right corner of the window.
This completes the setup of the Bit3 card and software.
