This study compares the reading and comprehension levels of primary
school (4th grade) students in different countries of the world, as well as compares
the work and results of reading literacy in the national education system of the
country. is an international evaluation project. The study mainly assesses the
formation and development of two types of students 'reading literacy and
extracurricular activities: artistic reading literacy and students' ability to absorb and
use information.
The purpose of the participation of Uzbek students in this program is to
create a solid foundation for the formation of competitive skills of our students in
the XXI century. In schools, teachers teach students from 1st grade to read and
understand the text. The texts selected for the research are fluency and consistency
of the statement, their reality, description without analyzing the facts (scientific,
practical and other texts) and texture; features such as fiction (fiction and other
texts) have been found to be very important. In primary school, a work of art is
analyzed according to the following important methodological rules:
Analyzing the content of a work and developing correct, fast, conscious,
expressive reading skills go hand in hand (the task of explaining the content of a
work is also a task to improve reading skills).
2. Explaining the ideological basis and theme of the work, its images, plot line,
composition and visual aids will serve the general development of students as
individuals, as well as the growth of related speech (vocabulary enrichment and
activation).

activities, expanding their knowledge of the environment, and forming the foun
The participation of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the PIRLS study will help to
improve the quality of education, strengthen the country's image at the
international level, bring the education system up to international standards,
increase the attractiveness of education and investment. Also:
• To know and compare the level of reading literacy of our 4th grade students;
• Comparing the level of reading and comprehension of the text of primary school
students in our country with their peers in other countries;
• Learn how reading literacy classes are organized in schools;
