Contact Activity Tracking
Outlook provides industry-leading address book and contact list features. However, some users need to know the history of previous interactions with a contact and be reminded of what to do in relation to the contact moving forward. Outlook 2000 includes Contact Activity Tracking, which gives users who need it a dynamic view of the relationship between contacts and activities.
Contact Activity Tracking allows the creation of links that associate a contact with items from Outlook such as Phone Call Journal entries, e-mail messages, appointments, tasks and documents that are related to that contact. As shown in the following figure, the Activities tab on the Contact item allows the user to view, group, sort and filter the set of associated items and double-click to open the actual item.
Contact Item Activity tab showing associated items
If an item such as a document, e-mail message or appointment is related to a contact, simply double-clicking on the contact activity will open the contact from the item.
