III. Introduktion til denne guidelines Intention to provide a comprehensive source for information on radiation / radiation safety and RP – so is easy to access info you need at any time. . Includes departments policy on RS & RP. Good start place for those not familiar with RP terminology – with knowlede of unerlying principles should be able to form answers to quesitons on how safe it is to work with radiation / NM department. Of course not everything written here, internal dosimetri is beyond the scope of this report – also included a book list / sources of further information as start place for those who want to learn more.
(Introduction / definitions of the most important / most used dosimetry quantities – not meaning to give lots of mathematical derivations, or all terms used …. mathematical equations kept to a minimum, those given as definitions, not derived: concepts such as gamma constant, air kerma, or exposure etc will not be covered – these can be found in any text book on radiation safety / units etc)
Intended as general reference for whole department, so people of whole range of knowledge can use it, from newly hired who have not worked with radiation before, to those who just need a reference source of the policy found in the department. Therefore for practical purposes is split in two parts:
Del A – gives useful information on radiation in general / basic physic principles / radiation dosismetri terms which might come accross.
Disscussion on legal requirements – what is required / what we have to do.
Del B – practical guide which discusses RP in practice – general procedures and specifics to our department. What equipment we have / instructions / procedures we have. Copies of up to date (jan 2004) vejledninger for various RS & RP procedures included in appendices.
For those who know everything about radiation, Del A probably too basic, so can skip to Del B where there is given hopefully a comprehensive coverage of RP in the department – practical information. If something missing, or subject matter not covered in enough detail, always welcome to discuss with physicist / overlæge – can possibly be included in future revisions of this guideline.
