TITLE: ANALYSIS OF PHRASAL EXPRESSIONS IN THE WORK OF
"OLIVER TWIST” IN UZBEK LANGUAGE

ABSTRACT:
The aim of this study is to analyze the comparison of phrasal expressions
in “Oliver
Twist
” by Charles Dickens with their similarities in Uzbek language. Dickens tells
the story of a boy`s life in “Oliver Twist” and it contains many moral stories. At the
same time, phrasal expressions are widely used in the novel and therefore the work
can interest the reader and the expressions in it are similar to the meaning of Uzbek
language expressions.

INTRODUCTION
“The book is a grateful teacher every minute he can acquaint us with the wealth of
knowledge of the sages” writes the great poet and thinker Mir Alisher Navai.

It is known that the role of the book is incomparable in meeting the intellectual and
spiritual-aesthetic needs of the population, in particular, in educating young people
to be independent thinkers, have a strong life position, truly patriotic and spiritually
mature people. It is a mistake to use a book as a mere pastime or a tool for boredom.
The book educates the human spirit as a factor that satisfies the needs of thinking
and the soul and is the main driver in the formation of his personality. For example,
if we take well-
known English writer Charles Dickens`s famous work “Oliver
Twist”, it uses phrasal expressions that interest the reader and attract itself.
Therefore, I analyzed phrasal expressions in the book Oliver Twist with their Uzbek
version. In Oliver Twist, Charles Dickens gives many examples of colloquial
expressions. Tadao Yamamota aslo admits that the language of Charles Dickens is
