Data Collection Procedures
As
the sole researcher, I conducted a series of three phenomenological interviews with
nine participants to gain insights into their experiences in HyFlex courses. The 10th
participant
informed me from the start she would be traveling and unavailable for three interviews, so I
conducted only two interviews with this participant. Each 1-hour interview was conducted using
Zoom. All interviews were recorded, and the audio was transcribed to
text for coding using
Otter.ai software. Once the interviews were transcribed, the original recordings were destroyed,
and the text transcripts were imported into NVivo software for coding and analysis. Deleting the
original audiovisual recordings from my hard drive and ensuring no
copy is stored in the Zoom
cloud helped protect participants’ anonymity.
Figure 3 illustrates the general sequence of this
study for data collection and analysis.
