Abstract.
Russian Knapweed (Acroptilon repens) is an invasive species from Central Asia with
significant ecological and economic impacts. It thrives globally in disturbed environments. The plant‘s
allelopathic effects, soil degradation, and impact on wildlife habitats contribute to its invasiveness. It
contains terpenoids, phenolic compounds, and alkaloids, offering potential medicinal and agricultural
benefits. Its allelopathic qualities can control weeds, but careful management is needed to prevent
unintended consequences. Integrated pest management strategies are recommended to control its spread.
Russian Knapweed also shows potential in phytoremediation, highlighting the need to understand its
interactions with soil microbiota and nutrient cycling.
Keywords:
Acroptilon repens, invasive species, allelopathy, soil degradation, terpenoids,
pharmacological properties, agricultural applications, phytoremediation.
