MICROSOFT EXCEL USING ITS CAPABILITIES IN DETERMINING
THE SOLUTION OF EQUATIONS

Currently, EHM consists of demonstration, modeling and control
programs that change the nature of the educational process and activate the
knowledge activity of students, prepared for each subject. Teachers use them
appropriately and effectively.
In order to increase the quality of students' knowledge and activate their
knowledge, it is necessary not only to form knowledge and skills, but also to
create conditions and opportunities for students to acquire new knowledge, skills
and qualifications by creatively applying the acquired knowledge, skills and
qualifications in familiar, usual situations and new unexpected situations.
Provision of secondary special educational institutions with new
information technologies is being carried out at a rapid pace in our republic. We
need to organize the teaching of computer sciences (informatics and information
technologies) in accordance with the requirements of the time and enriched with
worldly knowledge.
Currently, in various enterprises, with the help of electronic tables, the
calculation of costs and revenues, in project organizations, various indicators of
the future project; in construction organizations, it is effectively used to solve
many issues such as expenses for construction work
Solving problems based on the given algorithm using an electronic table;
It is possible to create and print various forms according to the values in the
table. Nowadays, vocational colleges are also teaching how to effectively use
the possibilities of electronic spreadsheets.
Another important aspect of Microsoft Excel is that the automation of
entering data into the table and the ability to sort the data in the table by the
specified criteria create a lot of convenience. The many conveniences of
displaying the results in the form of diagrams and graphs create incomparable
possibilities in the analysis of the results and the mastery of the science.
One of the capabilities of the function wizard in Microsoft Excel is that it
can also solve logical problems, that is, it can easily solve problems typical of

branching algorithms. Using this opportunity, we will focus on solving quadratic
equations in Microsoft Excel. Let us be given a quadratic equation of the form
ax2 + bx +c = 0. To solve such equations in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, we
performed the following steps. Enter the value of a in cell A1, the value of b in
cell B1, and the value of c in cell C1. Since in Microsoft Excel, of course, work
is carried out in a table with exact numerical values, our example shows how to
solve the equation 4x2 + 8x + 3 = 0. We placed the discriminant of the quadratic
equation in cell D1. We put the root value from D1 in cell D2. When D1 is 0,
we put the first value of the real root in cell D3, and the second value of the real
root in cell D4. In cell D5, we put the value of the root when the discriminant is
equal to 0. The results are generated in the corresponding cells:
We change the values in cells A1, B1, C1 according to the equation and
read the solutions in cells D3, D4, D5.
Various problems can be done very easily and quickly by solving
problems in this way based on the given algorithm with the help of spreadsheets.
