Outlook 2000 enables collaboration and sharing information with other users of Outlook across the Internet using nothing more than an Internet service provider or other e-mail server. For example, users can share a private folder of contacts in Outlook for a shared customer list, or set up a private discussion group with other users of Outlook across the Internet. Information is shared using automatic e-mail messages to replicate individual items, views and forms that are associated with a folder in Outlook. This feature is a limited, Internet-specific version of the rich collaboration and application development capabilities of Outlook, which are enabled when using Microsoft Exchange Server.
