U sers can now easily create shortcuts in the Outlook Bar to any file, folder or Web page, obtaining quick access to important information while working in Outlook with their e-mail, calendar, contacts and other collaboration applications.
Web Shortcuts in Outlook Bar and View the Web
In previous versions of Outlook, clicking on a shortcut to a folder always displayed the content of the folder in the right-hand pane. In Outlook 2000, clicking on an Outlook Bar shortcut to a Web page (a URL) displays the related Web page in the right-hand pane to give the user quick access to frequently used Web sites or pages.
Administrators can optionally configure shortcuts in the Outlook Bar before deploying Outlook to users’ desktops and can also add shortcuts to the Outlook Bar using scripts that call the object model from Outlook.
Note: Outlook uses the HTML rendering and security services of Microsoft Internet Explorer to safely display HTML content in the right-hand pane. Outlook includes the basic Web navigation features of the standard Microsoft Office Web Toolbar and is intended to enable quick viewing of Web pages or sites. Outlook is not intended to be a user’s full-featured primary Web browser. Outlook will not register itself as the user’s default Web browser.
