Outlook allows users to work with an offline copy of the Exchange Server global address list while they are disconnected from Exchange Server. Users of Outlook 97 had to remember to use a separate command to synchronize the offline address book. Outlook 2000 synchronizes the offline address book and folders using a single command.
When Outlook is used with Exchange Server, users sometimes need to use an existing connection to their LAN; other times they would like Outlook to automatically establish a dial-up RAS connection to the Exchange Server when required. In Outlook 98 this feature was available but difficult to find. Outlook 2000 makes it easy.
