5-4 Margaret (2nd dau. of Jonathan & Margaret Talbot Archibald)

md. David Archibald on Oct. 31, 1845. They had six sons & one

daughter. Her descendants are listed in the Robert Archibald

history.
Jonathan, shortly after he was married, moved to Pleasant Valley

and had the mills at the foot of the lake. He moved from there

to Musquodoboit in 1824, where he spent the remainder of his days

at farming and milling. He died here in August 1861.
Matthew Taylor Archibald
1. Matthew Taylor Archibald was the second son of Matthew and

Janet Fisher Archibald, he was born in Truro, November 17, 1774.

He came to Middle Musquodoboit about 1800 along with his two

brothers, Adams and Samuel Fisher Archibald. On March 2, 1811,

he was granted 500 acres of land: this is the place so long

known as the Bourke Gladwin farm but now owned by Smith

Archibald, 1980. When Colonel Gladwin came to Middle

Musquodoboit he purchased this farm and Matthew moved south to

the farm where Smith now resides. On September 15, 1801 he md.

Jane (dau. of William Guild). He was called Good Matthew - a

name given him by The Rev. John Sprott. Matthew and Jane had 1

son and 1 daughter. (their farms adjoined)

Matthew’s wife died Nov. 5, 1808 and he married second Margaret



Braydon (Braden) on July 5, 1810. They had 1 dau.

Matthew Taylor Archibald died on December 8, 1839 age 66 yrs. and

his third wife died

May 28, 1863. They are buried in the Pioneer Cemetery.

Archibald of Onslow) in April 1821.

in 1853. No issue. She died Oct. 3, 1887 and Alexander died

April 1, 1889.

Archibald; she was his second wife. They had one son, Adams

Tarbell, who died in early manhood. She later md. Alexander

Archibald.

the ministry; decided to leave and then taught school. He went

to western Canada, married, but no further

record.

farm out of the woods.

Montreal.
7-6 Isaac adams (3rd son of Matthew T. and 2nd son of Mary Lord

Archibald) md. Eliza McKenzie in Oct. 1846. Shortly after they

were married they moved to the South Sea Islands as missionaries

in company with Dr. John Geddie. They had 7 children. Mrs.

Archibald died in Australia in 1867.
Robert Archibald
1. Robert (2nd son of David & Elizabeth Elliott Archibald) was

born in Londonderry, Ireland on Jan. 22, 1745. His parents moved

to New England about 1757, then to Truro, N.S. on Dec. 13, 1762.

He was Town Clerk, Justice of the Peace for Colchester and

Pictou, Colonel of the Militia and land Surveyor. He settled in

Upper Musquodoboit in 1787 on the easter part of the “Matthew and

Robert Archibald” grant, now owned by Douglas Flemming, 1980.

Robert md. Hannah (3rd dau. of William & Jane Barnes Blair) of

Onslow on Apr. 2, 1767. They had 2 sons & 6 daus.

time.

5-4 David (2nd son of Robert & Hannah Archibald) was called



Captain David or David Archibald 8th. He moved with his parents

to Musquodoboit where he spent the remainder of his life.

Stewiacke Valley going there in 1837.

29-5 William (2nd son of Capt. David & Elizabeth Archibald) md.

Diana Hutchinson. They had 3 sons & 5 daus. They moved to

Minnesota.

30-6 Robert (3rd son of Capt. David & Elizabeth Archibald died a

bachelor.

31-7 David (4th son of Capt. David & Elizabeth Archibald)

inherited his fathers’ farm which was owned by his grandfather,

Robert. He md. Margaret (youngest dau. of Jonathan & Margaret

Archibald). She was a descendant of Samuel Archibald and Eleanor

Taylor. They were md. on Oct. 3, 1844. They had 6 sons & 1 dau.
