    Abstract
    The role of the project of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway to improve regional transport infrastructure
    Purpose - is to establish the socio-economic efficiency and to assess the potential of the project of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars in expanding trade relations and Asian region and improvement of transport infrastructure along the route of the “Big Silk Road.”

    Design/methodology - factorial analysis and comparative methods.

    Findings - based on an assessment of potential project opportunities of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars justified its socio-economic benefits and the special importance of logistics in deepening its macro-regional economic integration.

    Research limitations - absence in wide circulation of information about the information carried out by the regional policy between the various countries in the direction of expansion of economic ties and plans to improve transport infrastructure in international transport or limited access to them.

    Practical implications - informational purposes only logistic capacity and economic efficiency of the route selection of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars to transport in the Eurasian region, as well as the possibility of using as an appropriate alternative source in research.

    Originality/value - for the first time in the scientific plane within the main routes between Europe and Asia to assess the potential of the project traffic on the railway line Baku-Tbilisi-Kars and the deepening of the macro-regional economic integration justified its main socio-economic efficiency.
