Codec Sub-System
Contains the algorithms for both encrypting/decrypting the data to provide privacy across the network and the compression/decompression algorithms to reduce the data rate to help reduce network congestion.
Used to both place blocks into packets for sending, and to take incoming packets and split them into blocks. It deals with four packets at a time placing the incoming blocks into packet order rather than block order to send across the network and reverse this process for incoming packets.
Communications Sub-System
Used to receive, initiate, maintain, terminate connections, as well as send and receive packets between the two systems in which the phone call has been initiated between.
User Interface Sub-System
Allows the System to communicate with the user in terms of a graphical user interface, messages about calls can be displayed to the user where the user can decide on the next appropriate course of actions needed.
