    National symbols
National symbols usually include the national emblem, national flag and national anthem (hymn). On August 31, 1991 the Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan was adopted and the new flag of the Republic was introduced. About 20 versions of the flag had been offered for discussion. Only 3 had been chosen to
be presented at the session of the Supreme Council of the Republic. It was declared that the version adopted, along with its symbols, displays the succession with the state once existed on the territory of the present day Uzbekistan, its national, cultural and climatic conditions.
