WARMER
Organise the students into small groups and give them
an A3 sheet of paper. Ask them to draw a human body.
Challenge the groups to label as many body parts as they
can in five minutes. Award a point for every part of the
body correctly labelled and spelled.
ABOUT YOU
You can begin the class and introduce the topic of the unit
by showing the video and asking students to complete the
video worksheet. Then, read the questions in the
About you
box and have students answer the questions in pairs.
VOCABULARY
LISTENING
AND
Illness
1
Books closed. Encourage the students to say what can
go wrong with some of the parts of the body, e.g. you
can have a headache or a toothache. Books open, ask
the students to describe the photos and name the parts
of the body before they match the sentences to them.
If appropriate, point out that we always say
I’ve got
a
headache
but with other body parts (
toothache
,
stomach
ache
,
earache
and
backache
), the article
a(n)
is optional.
Also point out that
I’m cold
(= not hot) is different from
I’ve got a cold
(= I’m ill) and we can’t say
I’ve got cold.
