THE GRASSLAND-ALLUVIAL SOILS OF THE KHOREZM

Cotton growing is one of the most important branches of agricultu-
re in our country. Our country has a great qualification, experience and a
unique school in the field of cotton.
In recent years, the area under cotton has been slightly reduced in
order to ensure food security, address employment in rural areas, and
increase the number of diversified farms. At the same time, part of the
arable land was allocated for grain, fruit and vegetable crops. As a
result,
over the last 2‒3 years, the area under cotton has decreased by
about 15‒16%.
However, this did not diminish the attention paid to the cotton crop,
but rather the task of not reducing the gross cotton harvest by applying
science and new technologies, improving the rotation system, and
increasing labor productivity and cotton yields.
Gross domestic product due to the increase in cotton yield in the
strategic directions of agricultural development in the country not to
reduce the volume of cultivation. This means that in order to get a
certain amount of cotton from the available land, it is necessary to
increase the
yield of cotton by at least 15‒16%.

varieties such as Omad and Sultan have been developed that meet the
above requirements. The next task is to develop agrotechnology for the
optimal growth and development of high-quality cotton from these
varieties.
Each newly created cotton variety has its own biological and genetic
characteristics, and only when it is cultivated on the basis of advanced
agro-technologies is it possible to realize its full potential and produce a
rich and high-quality crop.
Field experiments were
conducted in 2018‒2021 on the farm of the
Khorezm Research and Experimental Station of the Research Institute of
Cotton Breeding, Seed Production and Agrotechnology. The experi-
menttal system is given in Table 1.
