Communication. Transferring a message through some medium to a receiver.
Compilation. Selection, assembly, evaluation, and graphic presentation of all relevant infor-
mation required for the preparation of a map. Such information may be derived from
other maps or from other sources.
Composition. The arrangement within
the borders of map elements,
such as subject area,
title, legend, scale, and the like.
Compromise projection. A projection that has no special properties, but usually has a good
appearance.
Condensed projections. Projections having a portion of the grid removed to permit a larger
scale map to be presented on a given page size.
