NOTE: This issue also occurs in Windows 2000 Server and Windows Server 2003 running Terminal Services.
Issue: In Windows 2000 and XP Professional, the Kyocera USB Driver may not be installed properly and the KX Driver may fail to print to the Kyocera USB port if the printer connected to the USB port printer is not recognized by the system because the printer is in sleep mode or is not connected to the computer.
Work Around:
Plug in and turn on the printer
Open Device Manager
Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers
Select USB Printing Support and open Properties window for USB Printing Support
Select Driver tab and click Update Driver button
Update Device Driver Wizard will start
Select Search for a suitable driver for my device radio button and click Next. (In Windows XP select Don’t Search, let me choose the driver to install)
Select Specify a location check box from Optional Search locations and click next
Browse to KMSL:\USB\2K (for Win 2000 and XP) folder or KMSL:\USB\9X (for Win ME and 98) and select KMWDKUSB.inf file
Follow other steps provided by Update Device Driver Wizard
Found New Hardware Wizard may occur and report that an error occurred during the installation. Ignore it and click Finish button.
Issue: Installing a model KM or FS printer with a USB interface in Windows XP causes the display of a Windows warning message concerning unsigned USB software drivers.
