Open GENTRAN Server Configuration.
Select Audit/Notification.
Click the Notifications button.
Click File.
Select New Notification.
On the General Screen fill in the following
Enter a Name for the Notification – this name will appear in the body of the email sent.
Check the Enabled button. The Enabled checkbox allows quick disabling of this notification. If it is not checked, notifications will not be generated for this specific notification.
If you would like notification on a specific message, then select the Specific Message radio button (Below is the above example).
Select 1 – SERVER under Source.
Select 4 – PARTNER_EDITOR under Component.
Type the number “5000” in under Message ID.
You can also select to be notified on a group of messages.
Select “Group of messages” during step 6c. Then continue steps 6ci and 6cii.
Then select the Severity. You may select All, Informational, Warning, and Error messages. Keep in mind All-Source, All-Component and All-Severity will not work as this will be too tasking to the system.
Click the Response tab.
Place an X under who should receive the email for this type of notification.
Click the Advanced tab to set advanced options.
Check the Include error message text this will include the full text of the message. If this is not checked then only the name of the notification will be sent and no other information will be sent. When it is checked the name of the notification, the message number and text of the message will be sent.
Use the Additional notification message to send to operator box for more identifying information. For example add the server name if you have multiple Gentran Servers.
Click OK to save the notification. Repeat the above steps for any additional notifications.
To test the new notification in step 6 example open partner editor from the Gentran Server desktop.
NOTE: The messages and their corresponding descriptions can be found by clicking the Messages button on the Audit/Notification tab of GENTRAN Server Configuration. From here, the various messages, and their corresponding Source, Component, and Message ID can be displayed. Also, review the Audit log to find other common errors you would like to be notified via email.
You may experience the following error messages. Use the 0x error to find the solution to the problem you are experiencing.
Errors Occur during test Error 0x80040E14
Restart all Gentran Services.
Error 0x80004005
The SMTP settings maybe incorrect, please review settings in the following:
Click on Start > Programs > Gentran Server > Gentran Server Configuration.
Click on the Audit/Notification tab.
Click on the Server button.
Click on the Notifications tab.
Check all settings and have the email administrator review the log specified under Log File. If further assistance is needed please contact technical support and provide the log produced.
Error 0x80040115
Open Outlook and attempt to send a test email to another email address. If an error is received or email fails from here contact the Exchange server administrator for further assistance.
Other Error 0x
Obtain the DCOM Whitepaper from Customer Center and follow all steps within document.
No Error Appears (user does not receive email). Outlook method (MAPI)
Select Control Panel.
Select Mail.
Select Show Profiles.
Select Prompt for a Profile to be used.
Select Apply and OK.
Open Outlook.
Select Profile that is being used by Audit Notification.
If prompted for a login then have the Exchange Administrator add the account that starts the services the right to use this email mailbox. After permissions have been resolved stop and start Gentran services and attempt test again.
Once in the mailbox without being prompted with user name and password, attempt to send message to same email address used on test.
If it works then turn off cached mode on the outlook profile.
If it does not contact your Email Administrator to fix Outlook Configuration.
SMTP Method
Open SMTP Log (use the below instructions to find log)
Click on Start > Programs > Gentran Server > Gentran Server Configuration.
Click on the Audit/Notification tab.
Click on the Server button
Click on the Notifications tab
The log is specified on this screen.
Have the Email Administrator review the log. If assistance is needed please contact technical support and provide the log produced.
