the old Hollingsworth homestead which had been divided among the

sons. They are both buried in the Pioneer Cemetery. Inscription

on stone: David died Aug. Margaret died Apr. 22, 1869

They lived on the farm later owned by Edwin Mitchell in a house

across the road from the present house, the Robert Collings home,

1980.
8-7 John Hollingsworth (7th son of Henry and Elizabeth ------

Hollingsworth) md.Letitia, dau. of David Archibald 5th. She was

born June 9, 1793 - July 11, 1865, age 78. They had 2 sons and 5

daus.


John and his brother David were the only sons who remained on

part of the Hollingsworth homestead. John left his place to his

son David, owned by Ronald Killen, 1980. John, Letitia and dau.

Ellen are buried in the Pioneer Cemetery.

John b 1785 died Dec. 27, 1872, age 87.

Letitia b 1787 died July 4, 1865, age 78.

purchased a house and a few acres of land. By trade he was a

Tailor. They are both buried in the Pioneer Cemetery. Her

descendants are listed in the Henry Behrendt history.
9-8 Margaret Hollingsworth (only dau. of Henry and Elizabeth

------ Hollingsworth) md.

Alexander Merson who came to this area from Lawrencetown, Halifax

Co., N.S. He took up two grants of land in South Section dated

Nov. 4, 1812. They had 2 sons.

Johnson Kaulback
In 1783, a number of German Protestant immigrants who had served

under Lord Charles Montague, arrived in Nova Scotia, via North

Carolina. Johnson Kaulback, the pioneer settler in Musquodoboit,

was a member of Montague’s Regiment, and as such, was eligible

for a land grant. 250 acres were granted to Johnson Colbach,

Nov. 4, 1812. (The name was spelled Colback, Colbach, Kaulback

and Kaulbach.) Johnson Colbach located on what has been the

Kaulback property for five generations. It was a stage coach

stop and hotel in early times, as well as post office until

1898. Owned by Hugh Kaulback, 1980.

was the home of Harry Gladwin for many years; 1980 is the

property of Dr. Rice.

Tupper (dau. of Samuel Tupper of Upper Stewiacke). They settled

on the James McFetridge property in Glenmore, owned by Robert

McCurdy, 1980.
