call these units "Group of lexical phrases of the category of indefiniteness with a
separating union" (or-expressions): or whatever, or anything, or something Bye
one and get ten free or whatever.
A similar two-place model of word combinations of the category of
uncertainty (vague category marker) of a general nature contains a connecting
union (and-expressions): and so on (and so forth), and everything, and that sort of
thing, and something of that nature:
- But er yeah. Have you done anything on the intentionalist fallacy and the
effective fallacy and that sort of thing?
Another classification of SS data is based on their functional features. It
includes:
1) phrases-categories of uncertainty that are substitute words or filler words
(placeholders, fillers, or dummy nouns): whatsisname, thingy/thingie, whatist,
thingamajig, thingybob, thingummybob, thingummy;
2) CA of the category of uncertainty, completing the list or enumeration
(vague tagging). The vast majority of words and phrases of this and the next group
belong to colloquial vocabulary and slang: and things (like that), and all the rest of
it, and all that sort of thing, etcetera/etc./et cetera, and /or something (like that), and
something of that nature, and so on and so forth, or anything, or so, and/or stuff
(like this/that), or what/where/whoever, and everything (like that /else), and that
kind of thing, and that (sort/kind/type of thing, lot). In dictionaries, such words-
phrases of the category of uncertainty are defined as limiting words and are
interpreted as “lexical units that blur the boundaries of the extensional” and are
classified as approximators. The main argument for such a decision is the ability of
such language tools to carry out semantic correction, introducing a modal coloring
of approximation into the semantics: He’s very smart but he’s also kind of young
and naive and quiet and sort of shy;
3) word-combinations-approximators (approximants), which are multi-level
linguistic means that function in the field of qualitative and quantitative
relationships and are characterized by the presence of the semantic component
