    Simplified Toolbars

Like the menus, the default toolbars in Outlook 2000 have been simplified to provide more discoverable, easier access to the most appropriate commands in every situation. Some specific enhancements include the following:

    • A smaller number of buttons are displayed on all the toolbars.

    • Important buttons now include text labels.

If users prefer the toolbar from Outlook 97, they have the option to display it as an Advanced toolbar.

    Improved InfoBars

Outlook displays a status banner near the top of open e-mail messages, appointments, contacts and tasks that gives the user information about whether a message has been replied to or forwarded, whether it has a follow-up flag on it, or when a meeting request message conflicts with another meeting already on the user’s calendar. Customers of Outlook requested that InfoBars be made more noticeable so the valuable information they convey is easier for busy users to recognize. Outlook 2000 addresses this request by making the InfoBars more colorful and noticeable, as shown in the following figure.

Improved InfoBars highlight important information about an item.
