balance of his life, living to be about 70 years of age. He md.

Hannah Laws, a native of England. Their son Eben md. Margaret

McLean of Salt Springs, dau. of Robert McLean who was one of the

early settlers of Salt Springs, Pictou County.

descendants are listed in the David Dickey history. She may have

been a dau. of the pioneer, James Benvie.

Ann Benvie md. Thomas Higgins, they had 4 sons & 4 daus. who are

listed in the Higgins history. She was perhaps, another dau. of

pioneer James Benvie.

Mary Benvie, said to be, another dau. of pioneer James Benvie,

married Donald MacKenzie. They had 3 daus. & 1 son.

pioneer James Benvie. Samuel md. Martha McKeen in 1820, they had

5 sons & 5 daus. (Miller book pg. 319).

A descendant: Mrs. J. Stanley Howard, Maine.

Jane Benvie md. Eliakim Tupper who was born 1787. They had 4

sons & 2 daus. She died Feb. 1830. (Miller book, pg. 226). She

was thought to be a dau. of the pioneer James Benvie. John

Benvie md. Isabell Creelman on Oct. 8, 1827. Isabell was born

Oct., 1808, they had 1 son & 6 daus. moved to Sheet Harbour. She

died 1870 age 62.

On Church's map of 1860 appear the names W. Benvie & J. Benvie on

Benvie Hill.


Adam Bryson


1. Adam Bryson md. Jane Stuart in 1825. Jane Stuart was said to

be a descendant of the Royal House of Stuart, or Stewart.

Apparently they were married in Ireland, probably Ballymena, the

birthplace of the Brysons. They had 2 sons and 5 daughters.

Adam settled in Newcombe's Corner, and also owned the George S.

Dickey property. His wife Jane is buried in the cemetery beside

Middleton United Church, "Jane, wife of Adam Bryson d June 13,

1870 age 67 yrs." If Adam is buried here his grave is unmarked.

7-6 Jessie (3rd dau. of Adam & Jane Bryson) md. John Higgins

(son of Simeon Higgins and Lydia Brown). John Higgins took down

the old buildings and erected the present house and shop also a

barn which was dismantled several years ago. This house was long

know as "The Claypool House". John & Jessie Higgins had 4 sons &
