from 2020 to 2023, which shows potential efforts to manage and reduce external
debt burdens.
This thesis discusses on Uzbekistan’s macroeconomic indicators in 2023
comparing the years 2020, 2021 and 2022. In general, the country's economy
demonstrates signs of positive growth and stability over the period analyzed. There
is notable expansion in GDP, decreasing inflation rates, improving unemployment
figures, and a mixed but improving current account deficit. The growth in exports
and imports signifies increased integration into the global economy, while efforts to
manage external debt are apparent. However, challenges remain, particularly in
managing inflation and ensuring sustainable economic growth.
As Uzbekistan continues to integrate into global economy, it will be essential
for policy makers to growth with stability. This will involve addressing inflation
issues, creating job opportunities and managing external liabilities. Attracting
foreign investment and balancing trade policy play an important role to shape
economic stability. Moreover, protecting domestic trade is essential for maintaining
nation’s development.
THE ROLE OF GREEN JOBS IN SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT: EVIDENCE FROM UZBEKISTAN AND TOP
SUSTAINABLE COUNTRIES

This research paper investigates the relationship between Sustainable
Development Goals (SDG) ranking and the prevalence of green jobs, with a focus
on Uzbekistan, aiming to elucidate the role of green employment in fostering
sustainable economic development. Utilizing quantitative analysis, the study
examines data from top-ranked sustainable countries, including Uzbekistan, to
explore the correlation between SDG ranking and the percentage of people
employed in green industries and occupations. The findings reveal a significant
positive correlation (r = 0.79312, p < 0.05), indicating that countries with higher
SDG rankings tend to have a greater proportion of their workforce engaged in green
jobs. This underscores the importance of sustainable development policies in
promoting environmentally friendly economic growth and employment
opportunities, particularly in the context of Uzbekistan. The study contributes to the
existing literature by providing empirical evidence of the relationship between
sustainable development goals and green job creation, with implications for policy
and practice in Uzbekistan and beyond. Recommendations for future research are
discussed to further explore the dynamics of green employment and sustainable
development in diverse contexts.
