and assessing the socio-economic impacts of green job initiatives, this research seeks
to contribute to a nuanced understanding between green employment and sustainable
development in the Uzbekistan's context (Johnson et al., 2019; Lee & Wang, 2021).
Against the backdrop of global efforts to combat climate change and foster
sustainable development, numerous studies have highlighted the importance of
green jobs as catalysts for economic transformation and environmental stewardship
(Brown, 2017; Garcia & Martinez, 2020). However, in the context of Uzbekistan, a
dearth of comprehensive research exists on this critical subject matter, pointing to a
significant knowledge gap that this study seeks to address (Kumar & Gupta, 2018;
Patel, 2020).
This research aims to fill this knowledge gap by providing a comprehensive
analysis of the role of green jobs in Uzbekistan's sustainable development agenda.
By elucidating the opportunities and challenges associated with green job creation,
this study endeavors to inform evidence-based policy formulation and strategic
planning towards advancing Uzbekistan's transition to a green economy (Wang et
al., 2022; Zhang & Li, 2023).
This study adopts a quantitative analysis of top 5 sustainably developed
countries, finding the correlation between sustainable development and green jobs.
The remainder of this paper is organized as follows: Section 2 provides a
comprehensive review of existing literature on green jobs and sustainable
development in Uzbekistan. Section 3 presents the methodology employed in this
study, including data collection methods and analytical approaches. Section 4
discusses the findings of the research, focusing on key trends and insights gleaned
from the analysis. Finally, Section 5 offers a critical discussion of the implications
of the findings and outlines recommendations for policymakers, practitioners, and
stakeholders.
In this section, author comprehensively reviews existing literature on the role
of green jobs in promoting sustainable development and economic growth in
Uzbekistan. We begin by examining studies that define and conceptualize green jobs
within the Uzbek context, followed by an exploration of empirical research on the
socio-economic impacts of green employment initiatives in the country.
Within the Uzbek context, green jobs are defined as employment opportunities
that contribute significantly to environmental preservation or restoration while
fostering economic development and social well-being (Uzbek Ministry of
Environment, 2019; UNDP Uzbekistan, 2020). These jobs encompass various
sectors, including renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, eco-tourism, and waste
management, aligning with Uzbekistan's national development priorities (UNEP,
2021; World Bank, 2022).
Empirical research specific to Uzbekistan has explored the socio-economic
impacts of green job creation initiatives and environmental sustainability efforts. For
instance, studies by local researchers (Uzbek Academy of Sciences, 2018; Tashkent
State University of Economics, 2020) have examined the potential of green
industries to drive economic growth, create employment opportunities, and mitigate
environmental degradation in Uzbekistan's transition to a green economy.
