3.4 Data Processing Methods
Several methodologies were employed to assess the qualitative data collected
during the interviews. Transcription was the first approach utilized to examine the
data. The transcription of audiotaped interviews
as a means of making data
available in written form for future classification and analysis is common in
qualitative research (Blake, 2003, pp. 267-287). The
recording and subsequent
transcription of interviews is considered standard practice in qualitative interviewing
since transcribing is the most thorough and accurate technique of recreating spoken
language in writing (Wollin, 2023). This process was carried out through Telegram
and other tools were also used because the conversations were conducted in two
languages. Interviews in Uzbek were first transcribed through Telegram and Google
Translate was used to translate them into English. However, manual corrections
were made to the transcription to correct the meaning
of the words during the
interview process and to ensure that the words were used correctly and were not
repeated too many times in a sequence.
Data coding was used as the second step in the process. Many social science
investigations are based on coded detailed semistructured
interview transcripts
(Vaughn, Porcia, and Cherie, 2016, p. 41-51). Coding
transcripts in qualitative
research is vital for understanding human behavior, ideas, and beliefs (John,
Winsome, and Johnson, 2000, p. 393-397). Coding is the process of categorizing
data extracted from a qualitative study transcript. It was used to identify the main
sections
in the transcribed text, draw the necessary conclusions,
and create a
visualization for the analysis process. In addition, it is necessary to create tables for
the analysis of the analysis. Atlas.ti software was used as a tool for coding pre-
prepared transcriptions and analytical visualization for this process.
